That is it and as such "Making Mr, Right" certainly has little in the way of twists or surprises when it comes to how this romantic comedy plays out.
Uncouth conma,n with a less than believable beard and hair cut, gets transformed by a career go getter as part of a bet only for them to end up falling in love. Trouble is that Eddie ends up surprising Hallie as not only is he handsome once he is in smart clothes and has a haircut but he ends up a quick learning charmer.Ĭall it another take on "Pygmalion" or for movie fans "My Fair Lady", the simple thing is that "Making Mr, Right" is simple stuff. Eddie ends up being part of the wager after Hallie agrees to paying him the money which he owes a friend of his. But she finds herself involved in a wager with the current existing editor to turn a street conman, Eddie ( Dean Cain - Crossroads: A Story of Forgiveness), into an eligible bachelor for a charity auction, which the magazine is hosting. Not a classic, but quite an enjoyable film all around.Hallie Galloway ( Christina Cox - A Brother's Promise: The Dan Jansen Story) is a go-getting career woman who plans to make editor of the magazine she works for as quick as possible and nothing will get in her way. Ann Magnuson is an actress I've always had a crush on, so I love anything she's in and Malkovich is always great, but you also get Glenne Headly, Laurie Metcalf and Polly Bergen in supporting roles. It's a pretty dorky idea, with a robot learning about love and consequentially the other characters learn about love as well, but it's such a great cast that is all manages to work.
While preparing his robot, Ann Magnuson takes and interest and ends up humanizing the robot by teaching him about human interactions in ways that are much to the consternation of Malkovich. This film is about John Malkovich making an android that looks exactly like him to make a long distance voyage into space. This film isn't nearly as pop culture obsessed at "Desperately Seeking Susan," but like "Cookie" it captures all that was hip about 80s culture in a story that could easily have taken place in any time period. She started off with "Desperately Seeking Susan" followed by this film and then made the underrated "Cookie". Less than the sum of its parts but tries its best to act as a quirky love storyĭirector Susan Seidelman made a few very 80s looking comedies that are not exactly classics, but watching them now really capture the time. There's barely any huge laughs going on in this and there's not too many scenes of Ulysses and Frankie together Yet the android looks exactly like Peters and although he's specifically designed to follow orders like a machine by mimicking and reciprocating human emotion he ends up falling in love with herįrom then on it complicated things for both of them Peters is hoping Congress will fund his research Then a scientist Jeff Peters invents the Ulysses Android for Chemtech Laboratory to be the ultimate service android looking for radiation, space travel, and safetyįrankie is more used to promoting people not hardware but this could prove good for her career
